Hello again! It’s been 5 travel days, 4 COVID isolation days, 2,448 miles flown, and more than a few sleeps since we’ve talked last. Going straight from New York Comic Con 2023 into my second bout of COVID is not ideal, but it could be worse. At least I’m home now, on antivirals, and I got to infect some of my favorite people, folks I haven’t seen or infected with anything in years. :)
In all truth - this show was a reminder for a lot of us that COVID is still a risk in crowded spaces, even vaccinated, even careful, even masking. Bummer! Allow me to assuage said bummer with a lot of fun pics from the trip, after the jump:
PS - If you work at a comic or book shop, why not subscribe your shop email to The Scorpio Room below? Even at the free tier, you’ll get weekly-ish updates about what I’ve got coming out to make your ordering life a little easier. Always here to help my pals in the infantry (comics retail).

“The Catwoman we know has vanished. Selina Kyle is gone. She’s no longer Gotham’s fugitive—she’s its ghost.
After the events of “The Gotham War,” Selina leaves the city a forever-changed woman with a plan: nine deadly missions, each one set aside for their certain lethality—only possible for a cat with nine lives.”

Lots of my spooky season joys have been put on hold thanks to the con/the COVID, so we’ll get back to that next week. Enjoy my pics from the con instead!
I’m a fancy femme when it comes to gems and jewels, it’s something I share with Selina Kyle, so this Sterling Silver Catwoman pendant from RockLove Jewelry wowed me. I was doubly wowed because Allison Cimino, the incredible woman behind RockLove, gifted it to me! They’re fans of mine? I’m a huge fan of theirs. Check out more of their gorgeous stuff at the link - their stuff really hits a lovely sweet spot between fandom and fashion that you don’t often see executed so well! (I really love their DC Comics collection. Those pave Catwoman hoops are calling to me…) Thank you Allison!
Literally sprinted through the Manhattan rain to make it to the Gotham City panel on time. Thank heavens some new writer named “Paul” “Dano” was on stage and I had time to dry my bangs and armpits in the air conditioning and take a suave, calm, unhurried selfie with my pal and Gotham War combatant
. Part of going to NYCC for me was the chance to be there during our big event to talk to fans. The feedback has been phenomenal. What a blast to sit onstage with my pal and talk about our Batman/Catwoman story. What a lucky life I lead.I’m sure I smelled fine.
This Two-Face and Riddler wowed me so hard. I wish I had their names - the takes on the Batman Forever costumes were such a slay, and handmade. Riddler stoned that whole bodysuit on her own. Riddle me that, cosplayers.
A weekend of mind-blowing Catwoman art everywhere I looked, honestly.
The loveliest of which came from Gotham War inker Adriano Di Benedetto, who came by to meet me and deliver this gorgeous page he inked over penciler Mike Hawthorne. This page, of Selina plotting with her girls, is a favorite of mine, and I’m such a huge fan of my inker pals, so this was a real honor. And it was so nice to meet him, too!
Speaking of great art, the best part about sitting next to Joshua Cassara is getting to see every Joshua Cassara commission that people get throughout the weekend. These brown paper commissions are so good.
Now for some more cosplayers.
Christie here is a dear friend of mine and the partner of our very own Phenomenocity artist Phil Sevy, but she always busts out some incredible X-Men look, usually of one of our favorite mutant blonde bombshells. Here she is as Dazzler with a fan.
(I’m kidding, that’s my agent and Cerebrocast host Connor Goldsmith, most of you know him.)
Doctor Jamie Madrox, of X-CORP, or at least…one of them. Might’ve been a dupe.
Selene’s here too? Is anyone at X-CORP headquarters today?
I had to snap a pic of this X-Terminators Boom Boom. She did all the hearts on that dress with fabric markers and the effect was perfect. Her very presence made me crave beer and explosions.
And of course, it’s not a trip to New York City without eating my weight in pizza and bagels like some sort of gluten-themed religious pilgrim. I keep thinking about this pizza crust and it makes me want to cry a little, like a beautiful clear operatic voice sometimes does.
And with that! I’m staying out of New York for another five years…unless the pizza cravings take over.
Stay weird, talk soon -

Hi, Tini!! I'm a Catwoman's fan and I'm really enjoying your run. Could you answer a question, please? You wrote a few weeks ago that Batcat would be fighting and kissing. So there will be a kiss in the last issue of Gotham War? Or any batcat moment?? That's my last hope since she will leave Gotham (I have SO many questions about this too).
Big hooray to hanging out at the con, and fingers crossed you're negative and back to normal soon, Tini!
