It’s June 1st. I hope that my queer family has heard it from people close to you today, but in case you haven’t - Happy Pride. I’m so glad you’re here, I’m glad I’m here, I’m glad I’ve survived the 20+ years of navigating my identity as a bisexual woman in order to be here with you all right now.
Sorry, I couldn’t shake the idea that some of you had maybe only heard ‘Happy Pride’ today from like, the Bank of America Twitter account, and the thought made me sick to my stomach. Let’s love each other, get a drink, throw a brick, build community, and celebrate.
This month, I’ll be celebrating with some fun stuff - like a really cool Jo Mullein Green Lantern story in the DC PRIDE 2022 anthology. I got to work with the incredible Evan Cagle and I think we made something really cool. It’s a little bit Blade Runner, a little bit Incal, and a whole lot of queer space detective energy. 💚
Here at The Scorpio Room, I can promise another chapter of Phenomenocity incredibly soon. Phil and I are wrapping it up and it’s even weirder and bigger than the first. The mysteries of Amelia, the City, and the Phenomenon begin to reveal themselves and come together.
Tomorrow, I’ll be launching my first of a series of discussions on BOOKBUILDING (what I call “worldbuilding) and the idea of FACTIONS within a story. I’ll be taking you through it my development of the City factions in Phenomenocity, so if you’re interested in that aspect of the story, or you’re interested in the real meat and guts of how someone like me worldbuilds, you’ll want to become a paid subscriber by clicking the button below, because that post will be exclusive to the paid folks.
A preview panel from chapter two by the incredible Phillip Sevy:
KNIGHTS OF X #2 took to the stands on the first day of Pride month to make a fucking point
(actually lol it was delays that caused that but i’m all about the kismet, we’ll take it, slaaaaay my Knights, armored boots the house down, for the girls gays and Bei, etc)
Cheers! (C’mon, someone give Mordred a glass of champs. Allies get a drink, too.)
You don’t have to tell me your favorite Knights of X moment so far in the comments? But it would be cool if you did.
This is getting long, it’s like 85 degrees out, and the pool is calling my name on the first day of Pride month. What kind of bisexual woman would I be if I didn’t put on a giant black sun hat and take my iced coffee and library book outside?
Today, my fave is you. For being here. I mean that. This experiment has been wildly rewarding so far, all of it - this blog, my career as a whole, staying alive. Been unexpectedly great. So thanks for that.
Stay weird. Talk soon?
