PHENOMENOCITY launches on SUBSTACK 5.9.22
can you make it through Phenomenon City without leaving a piece of yourself behind?
Launching exclusively on Substack, Phenomenocity is near-future, science-fiction noir in world that joyfully accepts that not all of our questions have answers.
A light in the sky brings no answers. Seen the world over, it is not earthly, not alien, not spiritual, but unquestioningly real. As a city forms beneath, those who gather are truthseekers. Scientists, religions, cultists, and opportunists spring up under the celestial display, quickly cobbling together a walled city of diverse interests that opens and closes with mysterious cosmic intent.
Social media’s been dead for years. The inherent risks to our privacy were realized in the nick of time - before the tech giants with blue icons could make a mess of it all. In the wake of it all rose digital archivists like Amelia Hurt, a peculiar but highly skilled investigator who can perform the legally questionable work of recovering the things of memory from these archives - photos, videos, last conversations, and more. But what happens when Amelia’s own archive turns up a question whose answers are in the city, the one place where no one knows what is real?
Amelia has a secret - her own past as a sick teenager who found refuge in fandom circles, confessing everything to best friends and writing partners she’d never meet. But when one of them turns up dead, the archives and the City are the only place to look for clues - but the truth is in her past.
Can Amelia mine Phenomenon City for answers without leaving herself behind?

Written by Tini Howard with Art and Letters by Phillip Sevy, this is the pair’s second collaboration. The creative team met after participating in the 2014 Top Cow Talent Hunt and first joined forces on Poseidon IX, published by Top Cow. After years of friendship, Tini approached Phillip about a possible lead project for her Substack account. Phillip jumped at the opportunity and Phenomenocity was born.
