Big week over here. First things first, HARLEY QUINN #28 came out on Tuesday, and folks seem to really be liking it. How could you not? Ignoring my contributions entirely, it’s a hell of a gift to have a cat-lover, fashionista, and ARTISTIC GENIUS like Sweeney Boo on a monthly comics gig. I plan to swing hard and swing for the fences so that we can have as much time together as possible.
I’ve posted Sweeney’s cover so many times, but you have to put your eyes on the interior pages if you haven’t yet:
And that Erica Henderson backup was SO good. I won’t even spoil the art itself because it has to be seen to be believed but - Pretty Soldier Harley Quinn.
COSPLAYERS, YOU KNOW WHAT TO DO
You make the outfit, is what you do.
ENOUGH OF THIS, WHERE IS THE BETSY CONTENT
The other treat to hit stands this week was CAPTAIN BRITAIN #2, with the promised Captain Britain and Captain Carter showdown, and some of Morgan’s bitchiest talk yet.
I think we got into and out of this one pretty cleverly. Recommending, of course, if you haven’t read Jamie McKelvie and Marika Cresta’s Captain Carter miniseries, let this be what convinces you. That series forged such a fun connection between Peggy and Betsy, I couldn’t help myself but to go back to it. It’s just not Captain Britain without a visit to an alternate self. And they can’t all be as capable and sexy as Brittannica Rex and QE III - some of them need saving.
For the fans, a little teaser from #3:
WELL-BEHAVED WOMEN BORE ME TO TEARS. WHERE THE EVIL GIRLS AT???
It was a three-Tini week, a four-Howard week if you’re also a fan of my co-writer and husband Blake Howard. Punchline: The Gotham Game #6 marks the last issue of our story, and it’s an issue I’m so, so proud of. Alexis isn’t Harley-lite, she’s a gleeful villain who isn’t turning good anytime soon. In fact, she’s just becoming more dangerous and more unique, and her position is really going to mean something in the Gotham that’s to come.
Speaking of which:
There’s nothing I love more than intensity. Nothing I love more than passion. And few relationships in comics epitomize that like Batman and Catwoman. Chip and I have been spending months working toward something that hearkens back to the sexy BatCat stories we love.
I can say no more! I can feel the keen glare of editor Jess Chen on me now, just like it was at the Wondercon Dawn of DC panel this weekend when I tried talking about this there, too! I gotta shut up now!
WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING THAT ISN’T COMICS
GTAV, baby. I’ve been painting again, too, but nothing I’m painting looks as good as my GTA sprite looks in thigh highs and a sniper rifle, so. Look at her, instead.
AND IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
