Really quick note to thank you all for the kind words on Catwoman #43, out this week!
I got to work with the incredible art team of Bengal and Jordie Bellaire, two faves, and my first time working with Bengal. So, of course, we had to do a road trip car chase.
No spoilers, but there’s a really exciting cameo from one of the coolest TV shows of all time. You can maybe guess who and what I’m referring to from something I’ve said already, but she’ll be sticking around for the next issue, and it’s another banger.
KNIGHTS OF X #2 is out 6/1 and we’re hoping that won’t move again? Make sure your orders are locked in!
And of course, there’s PHENOMENOCITY by Phillip Sevy and myself, which is FREE TO READ.
We have one chapter out now, with our second officially in production now thanks to your support.
Phenomenocity (fuh-nom-uh-nahs-uh-tee) is a near-future noir comic about an atmospheric phenomenon, the City beneath it, and a woman who never expected to live this long. Drawn by Phillip Sevy and written by Tini Howard, it’s an exciting step forward for us - entirely creator-owned and reader-funded.
Consider giving it a read and sharing if you like it.
I did DECOMPRESSED with one of my favorite writers (who happens to be a wonderful friend) Kieron Gillen, and it was a blast. He’s been doing episodes about each of the DESTINY OF X releases, so I got to talk to him about Knights of X #1 in depth, and it was awesome. We also went deep talking about tabletop RPGs, a shared passion of ours, and a timely one, as Kieron’s campaign for the RPG from DIE is absolutely destroying Kickstarter right now. If you’ve never read DIE, it’s Kieron’s comics with the brilliant Stephanie Hans, and it’s an absolute treatise on the art of tabletop roleplaying, done as a beautiful and gripping narrative. Just like he did with pop music and Jamie McKelvie in Wicked + Divine, really. Damn, that’s brilliant.
It’s occurring to me that Kieron Gillen must be stopped—
I got to go to Star Wars night at Disneyland and I made this cute little video of my evening. That churro tasted really weird, friends. It had blue raspberry sugar all over it.
I’ll leave you with this - me and this AMAZING Sideshow Catwoman, a gift from my very cool pal Amy:
She’s my new intern.
Stay weird. Talk soon!
