Hello everyone! It’s been awhile. It’s been a crazy busy summer full of Covid, Cons, and more Covid! I hope everyone out there is safe and healthy and settling in for a great fall.

Tini and I have been excited to get back to more chapter of Phenomenocity and are very grateful for your patience as life and work and other things have slowed us down. We’re back building up a nice chunk of content to release soon! Today, I wanted to get back to some of the BTS concept work on building up the look of Phenomenon City. 

From the go, the City was always going to be a character, so we wanted it to be unique and interesting. What that meant morphed and changed as we crafted the story but the idea of there being two sides to the city - the outward-facing, tourist friendly city and the darker underbelly behind the curtain - was always central to the city. 

There was originally a holographic element to the city which we shifted away from as I started to think through the difficulty in representing that with the art. My first crack at the city was this:
